Madison's Swimming Journey

Madison Wilson has had a very successful swimming career. She has won many medals for Australia.

Early Wins and World Championships

Madison won her first medals at the 2014 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) in Doha, Qatar. She earned a silver medal in the women's 4×100-metre medley relay. She also won a bronze medal in the women's 4×200-metre freestyle relay.

At the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia, Madison won three more medals. She helped the Australian team win gold in the women's 4×100-metre freestyle relay. She also won a silver medal in the women's 100-metre backstroke. Plus, she took home a bronze in the women's 4×100-metre medley relay.

Olympic Games Success

Madison represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She swam in the 100-metre backstroke final, finishing 8th. She also swam in the early races (called "heats") for the 4x100-metre freestyle and medley relay teams. Even though she didn't swim in the finals, her team won gold and silver medals. Because she helped them get to the finals, she also received these medals.

For her achievements at the 2016 Olympics, Madison was given the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2017. This is a special award for Australians who have done great things.

Madison also swam in the heats for the women's 4x100-metre freestyle relay at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. This event took place in July 2021. Her team, including Mollie O'Callaghan, Bronte Campbell, and Meg Harris, had the fastest qualifying time. Later, Emma McKeon and Cate Campbell swam in the final. They helped the Australian team win the gold medal. As a heat swimmer, Madison also received a gold medal.
