Maj Toure (born Martin Anthony Jones) is an American activist and rapper. He is known for his strong beliefs in individual freedom and self-defense. Toure often says, "All gun control is racist!" He believes these laws were originally created to prevent Black people from being able to protect themselves.
Toure grew up in North Philadelphia. In 2016, he started a group called Black Guns Matter. This group teaches people about the right to own guns. It also promotes safe and responsible gun ownership, especially in African-American and city communities.
He has released three rap albums. These include Solutionary Vol. 1 (2005), Solutionary Vol. 2 (2014), and Solutionary Vol. 3 (2016).

Maj Toure's Activism and Ideas
Maj Toure's work is shaped by his belief in personal responsibility. He also believes in the right to self-defense and individual freedom. He looks up to historical figures like Frederick Douglass, Malcolm X, and Harriet Tubman. These leaders fought against unfair treatment and worked to empower people.
Toure also gets ideas from thinkers like John Locke and Thomas Paine. Their ideas about natural rights and limited government are important to his views.
Why Gun Rights Matter to Toure
Toure believes that many gun control laws today are unfair. He argues they continue a history of racism. He says these laws were first made to stop Black Americans from being able to protect themselves. He feels these laws still affect minority communities unfairly.
Toure thinks that owning guns is important for all citizens. He sees it as a way for people to protect themselves from unfair government control. His focus on the Second Amendment (the right to keep and bear arms) is not just about race. It's about everyone's ability to defend themselves.
Views on Social Movements
In 2021, Toure talked with Lawrence B. Jones. He praised people who protested against racism. He agreed that Black lives are important. However, he criticized the organization Black Lives Matter, Inc. He called it an operation that takes advantage of the Black community. He believes it mainly helps Democratic politicians.
Toure emphasizes that real power comes from education and being able to support yourself. He believes in using constitutional rights. He thinks this is better than relying on political groups that, in his view, do not always help Black Americans in the ways they truly need.
Political Campaign
In 2019, Maj Toure ran for a seat on the Philadelphia City Council. He ran as a member of the Libertarian Party.
Toure's Campaign Goals
Besides supporting gun rights, Toure had other important goals. He wanted to change the justice system. He also wanted to end solitary confinement, which is when prisoners are kept alone. ..... Toure also wanted to improve education in Philadelphia. He aimed to provide training for young people to help them solve problems peacefully.
On November 5, 2019, Toure did not win a seat on the City Council. He finished 15th out of 17 candidates. He received 5,676 votes.
Speaking at CPAC
In February 2019, Toure spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). This is a large meeting for conservative politicians and activists.
