Maryland Heights became an official city in 1985. Edwin L. Dirck was the city's first mayor.

Fun Things to Do
Maryland Heights has many parks and fun places for people to visit. The city runs four parks, a waterpark, a sports facility, and even a park just for dogs!
Aquaport
Aquaport is a fun water park run by the city. It opened in 1999 and is a great place to cool off in the summer.
Centene Community Ice Center
The Centene Community Ice Center opened in 2019. It has three indoor ice rinks and one outdoor rink. It is a practice place for the St. Louis Blues hockey team and home to Lindenwood University's hockey teams.
Creve Coeur County Park
Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park is a large park with a 320-acre (1.3 km2) lake. It was a popular vacation spot in the early 1900s. The park also has a beautiful waterfall called "Dripping Springs." It was the very first park in St. Louis County.
Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum
The Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum is located at the Creve Coeur Airport. It has a large collection of old airplanes from the 1920s and 1930s.
Vago Community Park
Vago Park is a 20-acre (81,000 m2) park with three playgrounds, a splash pad, and a walking trail. It also has picnic areas with barbecue grills. Be sure to see the "Veterans Memorial Walk," a sidewalk made of bricks with the names of local people who served in the Armed Forces of the United States.
Gerald A. Eise Memorial Park
Eise Park has a playground, a splash pad, picnic tables, and a basketball court. It's a nice place for families to enjoy.
Quiet Hollow Park
Quiet Hollow Park is a smaller park located at Marine Avenue and McKelvey Road.
Parkwood Park
Parkwood Park is next to Parkwood Elementary School. It has a 0.7-mile (1.1 km) walking trail with fitness stations, a playground, and green space.
Westport Plaza
Westport Plaza is a large area with many restaurants, entertainment places, and businesses. It's a busy spot where people can dine and have fun.
Hollywood Casino
Hollywood Casino St. Louis is the first casino in St. Louis County. It opened in 1997.
Hollywood Casino Amphitheater

Zion Lutheran Church
