A Look Back at Masonville's History
Masonville became a town in 1811. It was formed from a larger town called Sidney. The town was named after Rev. John M. Mason, who owned land in the area.
Masonville's Location and Landscape
The western edge of Masonville borders Chenango County. The town covers about 54 square miles (141 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water. Much of the water in Masonville flows west into Masonville Creek. This creek eventually joins the Susquehanna River near Bainbridge. The southern and eastern parts of the town drain south into the West Branch Delaware River through smaller streams.
