Medina is a city located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, in the United States. It's like a quiet, country-style suburb on the edge of the big cities of Minneapolis–Saint Paul. Medina has lots of farms and natural areas.
This city is home to the main office of Polaris Inc.. This company makes cool vehicles like all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and snowmobiles.
In 2020, about 6,837 people lived in Medina. The city is about 15 miles (24 km) west of downtown Minneapolis.

History of Medina
Medina was first called Hamburg Township. But on May 11, 1858, its name was changed. It was renamed after the city of Medina, Saudi Arabia. This city was often in the news that year.
The area of Medina Township used to go as far south as Lake Minnetonka. But then, Orono Township was created in 1889. On May 26, 1955, Medina Township officially became a village. Later, in 1974, it became a city. This happened when Minnesota changed its laws.
For most of its history, Medina was a farming community. It had many farms. But starting in the 1970s, it began to change. The city got paved roads and street signs. Some suburban neighborhoods also started to appear.
Geography and Location
Medina covers an area of about 27 square miles (70 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 25.45 square miles (66 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 1.55 square miles (4 square kilometers), is water.
The main road through Medina is Minnesota State Highway 55. Other important roads include County Roads 19 and 24. The city of Loretto is completely surrounded by Medina. Loretto is located in the northwestern part of Medina.
