Melissa Anne Villaseñor (born October 9, 1987) is a talented American comedian, actress, musician, and artist. She first became known for her stand-up comedy and amazing impressions of famous people. She became even more famous when she joined the cast of the popular TV show Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 2016. She was a cast member for six seasons, leaving the show in 2022.

Growing Up and Starting Comedy

Melissa Villaseñor was born in Whittier, California, on October 9, 1987. Her parents, Guadalupe and Miguel, are from Mexico. Her family has roots in Spain, the Basque region, and indigenous Mexican cultures.

She went to Ramona Convent Secondary School. She also briefly attended Fullerton College. When she was just 15 years old, Melissa started performing stand-up comedy. She went to a comedy camp at the famous Laugh Factory in Hollywood.

Melissa's Comedy Career

Melissa Villaseñor has had a very exciting career. She was a semifinalist on the TV show America's Got Talent. Before that, she was chosen to perform at the 2010 Just for Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival.

Voice Acting and TV Shows

Melissa has also used her voice talents in many animated shows. She has done voice work for popular cartoons like Adventure Time, Family Guy, and TripTank. She also appeared on the HBO show Crashing.

In 2023, it was announced that she would voice a character named Nellie Ramirez-Humphrey in the TV series Primos.

Saturday Night Live (SNL) Journey

Melissa first tried out for Saturday Night Live in 2009. She did many impressions, but she wasn't hired that time. However, she didn't give up!

She was finally introduced as a new cast member on Saturday Night Live on October 1, 2016. Her first impression on the show was of comedian Sarah Silverman. Melissa was the second Latina cast member on SNL and the first Latina to become a main cast member. She was on the show for six seasons, from 2016 to 2022.

After joining SNL, Melissa deleted some old social media posts. She later explained that she was "trying to be edgy" when she posted them. She said she wanted to make sure she was "perfect" and that everyone makes mistakes.

She became a main cast member in 2018. Melissa left the show in 2022 after being a cast member for six years.

Music and Art

Melissa is also a musician and an artist! Her first music album, called Dreamer, came out in October 2019. It has a fun pop-punk and power-pop style. She is also a talented illustrator, meaning she draws pictures.

She even helped musician Rob Cantor create a viral video. In the video, she sang impressions of famous singers like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Björk.

Other Projects

In 2021, Melissa hosted the 36th Independent Spirit Awards, which celebrates independent films. She also voiced the character Robin in a radio drama podcast called Batman: The Audio Adventures.
