The Christmas Stories
This movie is made up of three separate short films, each with its own Christmas adventure.
Donald Duck: Stuck On Christmas
This story is inspired by an old short story called "Christmas Every Day" from 1892. It features Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Scrooge McDuck, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
On Christmas morning, Huey, Dewey, and Louie are so excited. They wake up Chip 'n' Dale and open their presents right away. They don't even wait for Daisy, Uncle Scrooge, and Aunt Gertie to arrive. The boys get new sleds from Uncle Donald and go sledding. Later, at Christmas dinner, Donald gets upset because they are not using good manners. While the adults sing carols, the boys play with their new toys.
That night, the boys wish for Christmas to happen every day. Their wish comes true! At first, they are very happy. But after a few days, they get tired of the same day repeating. They decide to play tricks and pranks to make things different. One prank involves swapping the cooked turkey with a live one at dinner. This makes Christmas terrible for everyone, especially Donald.
Soon, the boys read a card from Donald and Daisy. The card explains that Christmas is about being with family, not just presents. The boys feel bad and decide to make the next day the best Christmas ever. They show love and cheer, giving Aunt Gertie kisses and helping Daisy. Donald becomes suspicious of their good behavior. When Donald asks what they are doing, Daisy gets mad at him for spoiling the perfect day. But Huey admits Donald was right. The boys then give Donald their gift: a sailboat made from their sleds. Donald is surprised and touched, giving his nephews a warm hug. Finally, the boys understand the true meaning of Christmas, and the time loop ends.
A Very Goofy Christmas
This story is about Goofy and his son, Max. They are mailing a letter to Santa Claus. When they get home, their neighbor Pete tells Max that Santa isn't real. Pete says it's impossible for Santa to fly around the world in one night. Things get worse when Goofy pretends to be Santa for some kids, and Max finds out. Max feels tricked and upset.
Goofy is determined to prove that Santa exists. He stays up all Christmas Eve, watching for Santa. Max, still feeling bitter, just wants to forget about it. Goofy mistakes a Beagle Boy (who is robbing Pete's house) for Santa. After this, Goofy starts to lose hope that Santa will come. Max then tries to cheer Goofy up by doing everything Goofy did, even pretending to be a tiny Santa himself. In the end, the real Santa arrives! He gives Max the gift he asked for. He also buries Pete's house next door in snow. When Max asks Goofy if Santa forgot his present, Goofy says he asks for the same thing every year: Max's happiness.
This part of the movie happens before the cartoon series Goof Troop. Shaun Fleming voices Max in this story.
Mickey and Minnie's Gift of the Magi
This story is based on a famous short story from 1905 called "The Gift of the Magi". It features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Pluto.
Mickey wants to buy a gold chain for Minnie's special family watch. So, he gets a job at Crazy Pete's Tree Lot. Minnie also wants to get Mickey a special Christmas gift. She works hard at her department store job to earn a bonus. Mickey offers a small tree to a poor family who can't afford a big one. His greedy boss, Pete, then steals Mickey's money and fires him. Pete accidentally puts his lit cigar into his pocket with Mickey's money. This sets Pete, the money, and all his trees on fire!
Meanwhile, Minnie's boss, Mortimer Mouse, gives her a bonus that is just a fruit cake. After playing music for a toy drive, Mickey gets an idea. He thinks he can trade his harmonica for the gold chain. He rushes to the shop, but it's closing. The owner isn't interested in the harmonica at first. But he changes his mind after hearing Mickey play it beautifully.
Back at Minnie's house, Mickey gives her the chain for her watch. But Minnie no longer has the watch because she sold it to buy Mickey's gift. Minnie then gives Mickey a case for his harmonica. But Mickey no longer has his harmonica because he traded it for the chain. Even though their gifts don't quite work out, Mickey and Minnie still have a very merry Christmas. Just like in the original story, the thought behind each gift is what truly counts.
Finale
The movie ends with a mix of popular Christmas songs. You'll hear "Jingle Bells", "Deck the Halls", and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". All the main characters from the three stories sing together.
