Milton is in the northern part of Pierce County and the southern part of King County. It's located at coordinates 47.248208 degrees North and -122.317376 degrees West.
The areas of Milton and Edgewood are often called "North Hill." This name helps tell them apart from "South Hill," which is on the other side of the Puyallup River valley.
The city covers a total area of about 2.55 square miles (6.60 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 2.51 square miles (6.50 square kilometers), is land. A small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.10 square kilometers), is water.
