Minnetonka Beach is a small city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, in the United States. It's right on the beautiful Lake Minnetonka. In 2010, about 539 people lived there. By 2020, the population had grown slightly to 546 residents.

History of Minnetonka Beach
Minnetonka Beach, officially known as The Village of Minnetonka Beach, is located right on the shores of Lake Minnetonka.
Early Days and the Hotel Lafayette
This area was first part of Excelsior Township. In 1882, a big hotel called the Hotel Lafayette was built here. It was built by a railway company, the Minneapolis, Saint Paul, & Manitoba Railway, which later became part of the Great Northern Railway. This hotel was a popular spot.
Becoming an Independent Village
In 1884, Minnetonka Beach became part of Medina Township. Then, in 1894, the community officially became its own independent village.
The Lafayette Club
The Hotel Lafayette sadly burned down in 1897. After that, part of the land became home to the Lafayette Club. The first clubhouse for the Lafayette Club was built in 1900, but it also burned down in 1922. The clubhouse you see today was built in 1924.

Minnetonka Beach is a small city in terms of land area. Most of its total area is actually water, thanks to its location on Lake Minnetonka.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of about 0.48 square miles (1.24 square kilometers). Out of this, only about 0.47 square miles (1.21 square kilometers) is land, and the rest, about 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometers), is water.
