Monadnock Mountain, also called Mount Monadnock, is a unique mountain located in Lemington, Vermont, in the United States. It's part of the beautiful Northeast Kingdom region. This mountain is known as an inselberg, which means it's a single, isolated hill or mountain that rises sharply from a flat plain.

Monadnock Mountain offers amazing views. From its summit, you can look out over the Connecticut River and see the town of Colebrook, New Hampshire to the east. There's even an old fire tower at the top that helps you get even better views of both Vermont and New Hampshire.

Exploring Monadnock Mountain

If you love hiking, Monadnock Mountain is a great place to visit. The path to the top starts right next to Vermont Route 102. This spot is about 7.7 miles (12.4 km) south of Canaan and 13 miles (20.9 km) north of Bloomfield.

The Hike to the Summit

The hike from the trailhead to the very top of Monadnock Mountain is about 2.5 miles (4 km) long. As you walk, you'll gain about 2,130 feet (649 meters) in elevation. This means you'll be climbing quite a bit! At its highest point, the mountain stands tall at 3,148 feet (960 meters) above sea level.
