Morens was once a small town, or municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the canton of Fribourg, within the Broye district.
In 2017, Morens joined with several other towns. These included Bussy, Estavayer-le-Lac, Murist, Rueyres-les-Prés, Vernay, and Vuissens. Together, they formed a new, larger municipality called Estavayer.

History of Morens
Morens is a very old place. The first time anyone wrote about Morens was in the year 1216. Back then, it was known by the same name, Morens.
Where Morens Was Located
Morens covered an area of about 2.6 square kilometers (1 square mile). A big part of this land, about 66.5%, was used for farming. Farmers grew crops and raised animals there.
About 16.2% of the area was covered by forests. The same amount, 16.2%, was built up with buildings and roads. A small part, about 1.2%, was made up of rivers or lakes.
Morens was located in a special part of the Broye district. This area is called an exclave of Estavayer-le-Lac. An exclave is a piece of land that belongs to one area but is separated from it by land belonging to another area.

Every town in Switzerland has a special symbol called a coat of arms. It's like a unique flag for the town. The coat of arms for Morens was a red shield. On this shield, there was a silver stripe going down the middle. On the silver stripe, there were three red roses.
People of Morens
In 2015, Morens had a population of 154 people. Over ten years, from 2000 to 2010, the number of people living there grew by about 22.4%. Most of this growth happened because new people moved into the town.

Education in Morens

After this, students can choose to go to an upper Secondary school for three or four years. This can be a gymnasium (which prepares them for university) or a vocational program (which teaches them job skills).
In the 2010–11 school year, there was one primary class in Morens with 18 students. However, there were no kindergarten or secondary classes in Morens itself. Students from Morens who were in kindergarten or secondary school went to schools in nearby towns.
