Morten joined Blackburn Rovers in 2004. He made his first appearance in the Premier League on August 28, 2004, in a 1–1 draw against Manchester United. At first, it was a bit tough for him to get used to the Premier League. However, in 2005, he started scoring goals and became a key player. In his first season, he played 27 games and scored 8 goals.

The 2005–06 season was great for Morten. He became the main player on the left side of the midfield. He scored some amazing goals, like a volley against Fulham in August 2005, which was voted "Goal of the Month" by BBC Match of the Day. A big moment was in September 2005 when he scored two goals in a 2–1 win against Manchester United at their home stadium, Old Trafford.

Morten continued to play for Blackburn for many years. He signed a new four-year contract in May 2010, showing how important he was to the team. On November 6, 2010, he scored a fantastic 40-yard free-kick goal against Wigan Athletic. A few days later, he scored his 40th goal for the club against Newcastle United.
