Mount Oxford is a very tall mountain peak found in the Rocky Mountains of North America. It is part of the Collegiate Peaks area within the Sawatch Range. This mountain is special because it is a "fourteener". This means its summit is over 14,000 feet high.
Mount Oxford reaches an elevation of 14,160 feet (4,316 meters). It is located in Colorado, United States. You can find it in Chaffee County, about 14 miles (23 kilometers) northwest of the town of Buena Vista. The mountain is inside the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness area, which is part of the San Isabel National Forest. It was named to honor the famous University of Oxford in England.
Exploring Mount Oxford
Mount Oxford is very close to another slightly taller mountain called Mount Belford. It is only about 1.2 miles (2.0 kilometers) away from Mount Belford. Because they are so close, many hikers choose to climb both Mount Oxford and Mount Belford on the same trip. This allows them to experience two amazing "fourteeners" in one adventure!

Over time, Mount Oxford has been known by a couple of different names. Its official name today is Mount Oxford. However, it was also sometimes called Oxford Peak.
