What is the Climate Like on Mount Thyestes?

Mount Thyestes is in a marine west coast climate zone. This type of climate is common in western North America. Most weather fronts, which bring changes in weather, start over the Pacific Ocean. They then travel east towards the Coast Mountains.

When these weather fronts hit the mountains, they are forced to rise. This process is called Orographic lift. As the air rises, it cools down and drops its moisture. This means the Coast Mountains get a lot of rain or snow. This is especially true during the winter months, when heavy snowfall is common.

Temperatures on Mount Thyestes can get very cold. They can drop below −20 °C (–4 °F). With the wind chill, it can feel even colder, sometimes below −30 °C (–22 °F). The best time to climb Mount Thyestes is usually from July through September. During these months, the weather is generally more favorable for outdoor activities.
