Roads and Movies
In the late 1920s, the main road between Adelaide and Melbourne changed. This road, called the Princes Highway, started to pass through Nairne. This made travel easier for many people.
However, in the 1970s, a new road called the South Eastern Freeway was built. The old route through Nairne then became known as the Old Prince's Highway.
In 2003, Nairne's main street was used for filming a movie! The movie was called The Honourable Wally Norman. Many parts of the Adelaide Hills, including Mount Barker and Lobethal, were also used in the film.
