Nenad Zimonjić is a famous Serbian tennis player. He was born on June 4, 1976. He became the world's number one player in doubles tennis.

Nenad has won eight Grand Slam titles. These include three in men's doubles and five in mixed doubles. He won the Wimbledon Championships twice with Daniel Nestor. They also won the French Open together.

In mixed doubles, Nenad won the Australian Open twice. He also won the French Open twice. His fifth mixed doubles title was at Wimbledon in 2014. He reached nine other major finals too.

Nenad won 54 doubles titles on the ATP Tour. This includes two Tour Finals and 15 Masters 1000 titles. He was ranked world No. 1 in doubles for 50 weeks. He was the second Serbian player to reach this top spot.

In singles, his highest ranking was No. 176 in 1999. He reached the third round at Wimbledon that year. Nenad played for Serbia in the Davis Cup from 1995 to 2017. He helped his team win the tournament in 2010. He also led the team as captain from 2017 to 2020. During this time, Serbia won the first ATP Cup in 2020. Nenad also played in four Olympic Games.

Doubles Success

Nenad became a professional tennis player in 1995. He first gained attention by winning the mixed doubles at the 2004 Australian Open. He teamed up with Elena Bovina from Russia. They beat the defending champions in a big surprise.

In 2006, he won the 2006 French Open mixed doubles title. His partner was Katarina Srebotnik from Slovenia. He also reached the men's doubles final at Wimbledon that year.

In 2007, Nenad started playing with Daniel Nestor. They won the 2007 St. Petersburg Open together. In 2008, they won Wimbledon. Nenad also won the mixed doubles at the 2008 Australian Open with Sun Tiantian.

Nenad and Daniel Nestor won Wimbledon again in 2009. They also won five Masters 1000 titles that year. In 2010, they were runners-up at the Australian Open. Later, Nenad won both men's doubles and mixed doubles at the French Open. He won the men's doubles with Daniel Nestor and mixed doubles with Katarina Srebotnik. They also won the ATP World Tour Finals.

Nenad continued to win titles every year for 16 seasons in a row. He was ranked in the top 20 in doubles for 12 straight years. In 2016, he played doubles at the Rio Olympics with Novak Djokovic.

Recent Years and Return to Play

In June 2018, Nenad had hip surgery. He returned to the ATP tour in February 2019. He played at the Sofia Open with Viktor Troicki.

Nenad did not play on the ATP Tour for over two years after 2021. However, he never officially retired. In 2022, he won the first-ever Wimbledon mixed invitation doubles event. He partnered with Marion Bartoli. They beat Todd Woodbridge and Cara Black in the final.

In 2023, Nenad successfully defended his Wimbledon mixed invitation doubles title. He played with Rennae Stubbs. They defeated Greg Rusedski and Conchita Martinez.

In 2023, Nenad said he wanted to return to the main ATP Tour. He played three Challenger Tour events but lost in the first round each time. In 2024, he reached the final of the Wimbledon mixed invitation doubles with Barbara Schett.

Singles Matches

In August 1994, Nenad won his first professional singles title in Hungary. He won four other smaller professional events. He also won four Challenger tour titles in singles. These were in Kyiv (1998), Belo Horizonte (2000), Andrezieux (2001), and Belgrade (2004).

He had some big wins against famous players. In 2004, he beat Andre Agassi in St Pölten. In 2005, he defeated Nicolas Kiefer in Halle.

Davis Cup and ATP Cup

Nenad has been a key player for the Serbia Davis Cup team since 1995. He played both singles and doubles. From 2003 to 2004, he was also the team's playing captain. As Serbia got more top singles players, Nenad became a doubles specialist. He partnered with players like Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki.

In 2010, Serbia won its first-ever Davis Cup title. They beat teams like the United States and France. Nenad played in all four doubles matches during the competition. To celebrate, all the players shaved their heads. The Serbian postal service even made a stamp with their pictures!

In 2013, Nenad and Ilija Bozoljac had an amazing five-set win. They beat the top-ranked Bryan brothers from the United States.

Nenad was the captain of the Serbian Davis Cup team from 2017 to 2020. He also led the team when Serbia won the first 2020 ATP Cup in 2020.

Personal Life

Nenad Zimonjić was born in Belgrade, Serbia. He grew up in the Borča area. Now, he lives in New Belgrade. His family comes from different parts of Serbia and Herzegovina.

In 2008, he married a former model named Mina Knežević. On December 3, 2008, they had twins, a boy named Leon and a girl named Luna.
