Nicholas Roger Swardson (born October 9, 1976) is an American actor, stand-up comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He is well-known for his role as Terry Bernadino in the comedy series Reno 911!. He also works often with Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions. Nick Swardson also had his own sketch comedy series called Nick Swardson's Pretend Time.
He has appeared in many movies. Some of these include The Benchwarmers (2006), Blades of Glory (2007), and Just Go with It (2011). Other films are That's My Boy (2012), Pixels (2015), and The Do-Over (2016). His most recent film appearance was in The Wrong Missy (2020).

Nick Swardson's Early Life
Nick Swardson grew up in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area. He was born to Pamela and Roger Eric Swardson. Nick is the youngest of three children. He has an older sister named Rachel and a brother named John.
His father was a writer and editor. He wrote for newspapers like the Cincinnati Enquirer. He also started a community newspaper in Saint Paul. Nick's parents divorced when he was about 12 or 13 years old. Nick Swardson has family roots from Sweden.
He went to St. Paul Central High School. He started acting and performing improv comedy when he was 16. He was a mischievous student during his school years.
After finishing high school in 1996, Nick decided to become a stand-up comedian. He chose this path instead of going to college. He loved sketch comedy. However, he saw stand-up as a way to get into movies. He thought it was a better path than joining a comedy group.
Nick Swardson is a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings football team. He is also good friends with actor Josh Duhamel. Josh Duhamel also lives in Minnesota.
Nick Swardson's Comedy Career
Nick Swardson began doing stand-up comedy at age 18. He went to "open mic" nights at Acme Comedy Co. in Minneapolis. He said his first time was "as a goof." But the club owner encouraged him to perform again.
He later won the club's award for "Funniest Person in the Twin Cities." He also performed regularly at Knuckleheads. This was another comedy club in the Mall of America.
Getting Noticed in Comedy
After gaining attention, Nick was chosen to perform at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. He was only 20 years old at the time. This festival was held yearly in Aspen, Colorado. It was a big event for comedians and actors. It helped them get noticed by people in the entertainment industry.
After Nick's first performance, comedian Tony Camin praised him. He said, "There's a deal waiting to happen." He even imagined a TV show for Nick.
Nick eventually moved from Minneapolis to New York City. There, he performed at places like the Luna Lounge. Then he moved to Los Angeles. He became a headliner at many comedy clubs there.
Besides stand-up, Nick started getting roles in commercials. He also had small parts in TV shows and movies. He appeared in an episode of LateLine in 1999. He also played a fan in the 2000 film Almost Famous.
In 2001, Nick Swardson had his own half-hour special on Comedy Central Presents. He appeared on the show again in 2006. This performance was included on a DVD compilation.
Working in Film and Television
In 2003, Nick Swardson helped write the movie Malibu's Most Wanted. He wrote it with the film's star Jamie Kennedy. That same year, he started playing Terry Bernadino on the Comedy Central series Reno 911!. He was a regular character from 2003 to 2009. He also appeared in the movie Reno 911!: Miami.
The year 2003 also marked the start of his work with Adam Sandler. Adam Sandler saw Nick's Comedy Central special. He then asked Nick if he wanted to work together. Nick's first project with Sandler was co-writing Grandma's Boy. Nick also helped produce and acted in this film, which came out in 2006.
In 2004, Nick wrote, produced, and starred in a TV show pilot. It was for Comedy Central and based on a comedy bit. Comedy Central decided not to pick up the show. Nick then thought about making it an animated show, but it did not happen. He did bring the character back on his show Nick Swardson's Pretend Time.
Nick Swardson's sketch comedy show, Nick Swardson's Pretend Time, started on Comedy Central in October 2010. It ran for two seasons. Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions helped produce the show. In 2012, Nick announced the show would not have a third season. He said it was too expensive and hard to create. He also mentioned he was working on a new show where he would play a ninja.
In 2011, Nick Swardson starred in, co-wrote, and co-produced the film Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star. This movie was also produced by Happy Madison Productions. In the same year, he acted alongside Jesse Eisenberg and Danny McBride. They were in the film 30 Minutes or Less.
In 2014, Nick Swardson provided the voice for the character Troy. This was for the animated series Chozen.
