Nicholas Roger Swardson (born October 9, 1976) is an American actor, stand-up comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He is famous for playing Terry Bernadino in the TV comedy series Reno 911!.
Nick Swardson is also known for working with Adam Sandler's company, Happy Madison Productions. He had his own funny TV show called Nick Swardson's Pretend Time.
He has also starred in movies like Grandma's Boy (2006), You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008), and Grown Ups 2 (2013).

Early Life and Comedy Dreams
Nick Swardson grew up in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area of Minnesota. He was born to Pamela and Roger Eric Swardson. Nick is the youngest of three children; he has a sister named Rachel and a brother named John.
His father, Roger Swardson, was a writer and journalist. He even started a community newspaper in Saint Paul. Nick's family has Swedish roots.
Nick went to St. Paul Central High. He started acting and doing improv comedy when he was 16 years old.
After finishing high school in 1996, Nick decided to become a stand-up comedian. He chose this path instead of going to college. He saw stand-up comedy as a way to get into movies.
Nick is a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings football team. He is also good friends with actor Josh Duhamel, who also lives in Minnesota.
Nick's Comedy Career
Nick Swardson began performing stand-up comedy at age 18. He went to "open mic" nights at the Acme Comedy Co. in Minneapolis. An open mic night is where new comedians can try out their jokes.
He first tried it "as a goof," but the club owner liked him. Nick was encouraged to perform again and later won an award for the "Funniest Person in the Twin Cities." He also performed regularly at other comedy clubs.
Getting Noticed in Comedy
After gaining some attention, Nick was chosen to perform at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. He was only 20 years old at the time. This festival was a big event where people from the entertainment industry looked for new talent.
Many comedians and writers got their start at this festival. After Nick's performance, a comedian named Tony Camin said, "There's a deal waiting to happen." This showed that people saw a bright future for Nick.
Nick later moved to New York City and then to Los Angeles. He performed at many famous comedy clubs. Besides stand-up, he started getting small acting roles in TV shows and movies. For example, he was in an episode of LateLine in 1999. He also played a crazy David Bowie fan in the 2000 movie Almost Famous.
Comedy Central and Adam Sandler
In 2001, Nick Swardson had his own half-hour special on Comedy Central Presents. He appeared on the show again in 2006. This performance was even included on a DVD.
In 2003, Nick helped write the movie Malibu's Most Wanted. That same year, he started playing Terry Bernadino on the Comedy Central show Reno 911!.
Also in 2003, Nick began working with Adam Sandler. Adam Sandler saw Nick's Comedy Central special and wanted to work with him. Their first project together was writing the movie Grandma's Boy. Nick also helped produce and acted in the movie, which came out in 2006.
Pretend Time and Other Projects
In 2004, Nick wrote and produced a TV show pilot for Comedy Central called Gay Robot. It was based on a funny idea from one of Adam Sandler's albums. Comedy Central decided not to make it into a full series. However, Nick brought the Gay Robot character back on his later show.
Nick Swardson's own sketch comedy show, Nick Swardson's Pretend Time, started on Comedy Central in October 2010. It ran for two seasons. Adam Sandler's company, Happy Madison Productions, helped produce the show.
In 2012, Nick announced that there would not be a third season. He said the show was too expensive for the network. He also mentioned he was working on a new show where he would play a ninja.
In 2011, Nick starred in, co-wrote, and co-produced the movie Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star. This movie was also produced by Happy Madison Productions. That same year, he acted in the movie 30 Minutes or Less with Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari.
In 2014, Nick Swardson lent his voice to the character Troy in the animated series Chozen.
