Early Beginnings and First Songs
Nikki D started her music journey in 1989. She signed with Def Jam, a famous record label. In 1990, she released her very first song, called a single, titled "Lettin' Off Steam." The song's music video even featured Flavor Flav, another well-known artist.
The Success of "Daddy's Little Girl"
In 1991, Nikki D released her most popular song, "Daddy's Little Girl." This song was a huge hit! It was even featured on the soundtrack for the movie Just Another Girl on the I.R.T.. "Daddy's Little Girl" reached the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. This meant it was the most popular rap song in the country at that time.
