Norman's Law is a noticeable hill in Scotland, located at the eastern end of the Ochil Fault. It stands tall above the south bank of the River Tay. This hill is about four miles northwest of the town of Cupar.

Discover Norman's Law: A Scottish Hill
Norman's Law is a special hill in the region of Fife, Scotland. It's known as a "Marilyn," which is a type of hill in Britain with a certain height and prominence. Even though it's not super tall, it offers amazing views because it stands out from the land around it.
An Ancient Home: The Hill Fort
At the very top of Norman's Law, you can find the remains of an ancient Iron Age hill fort. A hill fort was like a fortified village built on a hill. People lived here a very long time ago, during the Iron Age. They chose this spot because the hill offered great views of the surrounding area. This made it easy to see if enemies were coming.
The steep sides of the hill also provided a natural defense. This old settlement is so important that it's now a "scheduled monument." This means it's a protected historical site.
Reaching the Top: Your Adventure
It's quite easy to get to the top of Norman's Law. The quickest way to climb starts about a mile west of a small village called Brunton. You can find this starting point at map reference NO310209.
Another way to the top is from the village of Luthrie. There's a path from Luthrie (map reference NO331196) that has signs to guide you. It's a great walk for anyone who enjoys nature and history.
Amazing Views from the Summit
Once you reach the summit of Norman's Law, you'll be rewarded with incredible views. You can see across a large part of Central Scotland. On a clear day, you might even spot the distant Grampian Mountains.
If the weather is very good, you can see really far. You might even see Lochnagar to the north. To the west, you could spot Ben More (Crianlarich). And looking south, you might see the Moorfoot Hills. It's a fantastic spot for taking photos and enjoying the scenery.
The Norman's Law Hill Race
Every year, a fun event called the Norman's Law hill race takes place. This race is organized by a local running club called Fife AC. The race starts in the nearby village of Luthrie. It's a challenging but exciting event for runners.
