North Fort Myers is a community in Lee County, Florida, in the United States. It is known as a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's a populated area that the government counts for the census, but it doesn't have its own city government.

In 2020, about 42,719 people lived in North Fort Myers. This was an increase from 39,407 people in 2010. It is part of the larger Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. This is a big region that includes several cities and towns close together.

North Fort Myers Location & Roads

North Fort Myers is located in the northern part of Lee County. It sits across the Caloosahatchee River from the city of Fort Myers. To its west, you'll find the city of Cape Coral. To the north, it shares a border with Charlotte County.

Major roads help people travel through and from North Fort Myers. Interstate 75 (I-75) goes right through the area. You can get on I-75 from Exit 143, which is Florida State Road 78. I-75 can take you northwest about 67 miles to the Sarasota area. If you go south, it's about 38 miles to the Naples area.

State Road 78 goes east about 34 miles to LaBelle. If you go west, it's about 16 miles to Pine Island Center. Another important road is U.S. Route 41, also called North Tamiami Trail. This road passes through the middle of North Fort Myers. It crosses the Caloosahatchee Bridge southeast into downtown Fort Myers. To the northwest, it leads about 24 miles to Port Charlotte.

The North Fort Myers community covers a total area of about 140.9 square kilometers (54.4 square miles). Most of this area is land, which is about 131.1 square kilometers (50.6 square miles). The rest is water, making up about 9.8 square kilometers (3.8 square miles), or nearly 7% of its total area.
