Oberbözberg was once a small town, or municipality, located in the Aargau region of Switzerland. It was part of the Brugg district. On January 1, 2013, Oberbözberg joined with three other nearby towns – Gallenkirch, Linn, and Unterbözberg – to create a new, larger municipality called Bözberg.

A Look Back: History of Oberbözberg

The name Bozeberch was first used for Oberbözberg way back in 1189. For a long time, until 1873, Oberbözberg was part of a larger area also called Bözberg. Then, this area split into two separate towns: Oberbözberg and Unterbözberg.

About 4.8% of the land was settled with buildings and roads. A very small part, 0.4%, was made up of rivers and lakes. Most of the built-up areas were homes and other buildings.

The former town was located in the Brugg district. It included a long, spread-out village called Oberbözberg. There was also a smaller village, or hamlet, named Ueberthal, along with several scattered farms.
