Unterbözberg was once a small town, or "municipality," in Switzerland. It was located in the Brugg district, within the canton of Aargau. On January 1, 2013, Unterbözberg joined with three other towns: Gallenkirch, Linn, and Oberbözberg. Together, they formed a new, larger municipality called Bözberg.

A Look Back in Time: Unterbözberg's History

Unterbözberg was first mentioned in old records in 1189. Back then, it was known as Bozeberch. For a long time, it was part of a larger area called Bözberg. In 1873, Bözberg split into two separate towns: Oberbözberg and Unterbözberg.

Unterbözberg covered an area of about 6.12 square kilometers (2.36 square miles). A big part of this land, about 53.6%, was used for farming. Forests covered another 37.9% of the area. The remaining 9.6% was settled with buildings and roads.

Most of the forested land was dense forest. Farmers grew crops on 38.2% of the agricultural land. They also used some areas for pastures and orchards.

What Did Unterbözberg's Coat of Arms Look Like?

The official design, or blazon, of Unterbözberg's coat of arms was quite unique. It showed a green background with a silver stripe going across it. On either side of the stripe were four golden Linden tree leaves.

In 2011, Unterbözberg had a population of 735 people. Most people living there spoke German, about 94.4% of the population. Albanian was the second most common language, and Italian was third.

The population changed a little over time. Between 1997 and 2007, the number of people living there went down by about 4.5%.
