Olin Wellborn (born June 18, 1843 – died December 6, 1921) was an important person in American law and politics. He served as a U.S. Representative for Texas. Later, he became a U.S. District Judge in California. He had a long career helping to make laws and ensure justice.

Early Life and Education
Olin Wellborn was born on June 18, 1843, in Cumming, Georgia. He went to local schools and later studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He graduated from Emory University in 1862.
During the American Civil War, Olin Wellborn joined the Confederate States Army in 1861. He served throughout the entire war. He reached the rank of captain in the Fourth Georgia Cavalry. After the war, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia.
Becoming a Lawyer
After the war, Wellborn studied law. He became a lawyer in 1866. He worked as a private lawyer in Atlanta until 1871. Then, he moved to Dallas, Texas, and continued his law practice there.
Serving in Congress
Olin Wellborn was a member of the Democratic Party. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives. He represented different areas of Texas. He served in Congress from March 4, 1879, to March 3, 1887.
While in Congress, he was in charge of the Committee on Indian Affairs. This committee dealt with issues related to Native American tribes. He tried to be re-elected in 1886 but was not successful.
Later Career and Becoming a Judge
After leaving Congress, Wellborn returned to being a private lawyer. He practiced law in San Diego, California, from 1887 to 1893. Then, he moved his practice to Los Angeles, California, starting in 1893.
Becoming a Federal Judge
On February 25, 1895, President Grover Cleveland chose Olin Wellborn to be a judge. He was nominated for a position on the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. The United States Senate approved his nomination on March 1, 1895. He officially became a judge that same day.
Judge Wellborn served on the court until January 31, 1915. He decided to retire from his position.
Death and Family
Olin Wellborn passed away on December 6, 1921, in Los Angeles, California. He was buried at Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles.
His daughter married Burton E. Green. Burton Green was one of the people who helped create the famous city of Beverly Hills, California.
