Oliva is a lovely town in the Valencian Community, Spain. It is part of the Safor area. To the east, you'll find 10 kilometers (about 6 miles) of beautiful coastline and beaches. These beaches face the Mediterranean Sea. The city of Gandia is just 8 kilometers (about 5 miles) north of Oliva.

Exploring Oliva's Town and Beaches
Oliva has a main street called the Passeig (promenade). This street runs right through the middle of town. Every Friday, a lively market takes place here.
Oliva's Blue Flag Beaches
Oliva is famous for its amazing beaches, which stretch for 7 kilometers (about 4.3 miles). Many of these beaches have natural sand dunes. One popular spot is Kiko beach, located on the left side of Marina beach. Oliva's beaches are often given a "Blue Flag" award. This means they are very clean, safe, and well-managed.
Historic Buildings in Oliva
In the old part of town, you can visit two historic churches.
- Sant Roc Church: This church was built between the 18th and 19th centuries.
- Santa Maria la Major Church: This one is even older, dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
At the very top of the hill in the old town, you'll find the Santa Anna Castle. This castle was built in the 16th century. Right in the center of Oliva, on Santíssim street, there's a Roman kiln. This ancient oven is located beneath some modern apartment buildings.
Oliva's Economy
Most of Oliva's economy, about 80%, comes from services like shops, banks, and tourism. There are more than 30 banks in Oliva! About 15% of the economy comes from factories and industries. These are mostly located in an industrial area outside the city, to the southeast.
Less than 5% of Oliva's economy comes from farming. However, the area has many large farms growing oranges and tangerines. You can also find smaller farms growing fruits like avocados, loquats, figs, bananas, and prickly pears.

In 2011, Oliva had a population of 28,400 people. About 26% of these residents were from other countries. Many came from Bolivia, Ecuador, Morocco, the United Kingdom, and Romania. People from over 50 different countries live in Oliva, especially from South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Oliva has a warm, sunny climate, similar to a Mediterranean climate. It has more than 230 days a year where the temperature is above 20°C (68°F).

- Winters: They are mild and not too cold. Temperatures rarely drop below 6°C (43°F). Snow and freezing temperatures are almost unheard of.
- Summers: They are hot and dry. Daytime temperatures usually range from 28°C to 32°C (82°F to 90°F). During heat waves, which happen every year, temperatures can go above 38°C (100°F) and sometimes even over 41°C (106°F).
The average yearly temperature in Oliva is about 19°C (66°F). Autumn is the wettest season, while summer is the driest. The city usually enjoys more than 300 clear, sunny days each year.
