Ollagüe is a small village and a special type of local government area called a commune in Chile. It's located in the Antofagasta Region, close to the border with Bolivia. This area is high up in the Andes mountains, in a flat region known as the altiplano.
The village is about 215 kilometers (134 miles) northeast of the city of Calama. It has a train station and a place where train cars are sorted, which is part of the FCAB railway line.
The commune of Ollagüe includes other small places like Cebollar, Ascotán, Amincha, El Inca, Coska, Puquios, and Chela. The name "Ollagüe" comes from the Aymara word Ullawi, which means "viewpoint."

How Many People Live Here?
A census is like a big count of all the people living in a place. According to the 2002 census by the National Statistics Institute, Ollagüe had 318 people. There were 210 men and 108 women.
All of these people lived in rural areas, meaning outside of big towns or cities. The population went down by about 28% between the 1992 and 2002 censuses. This means fewer people were living there over those ten years.
