Pailly is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Gros-de-Vaud area of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Pailly was first mentioned in old records in 1154. Back then, it was known by the name Parli.
Exploring Pailly's Geography
Pailly covers an area of about 5.77 square kilometers (2.23 square miles). A large part of this land, about 75%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 17.7% of the area. The remaining land, about 6.6%, has buildings and roads.
Most of the built-up area is made of houses and other buildings. The rest is for roads and transportation. All the forested land is covered with thick forests. For farming, most of the land is used for growing crops. Some parts are pastures for animals, and a small bit is for orchards or vineyards.
Pailly used to be part of the Échallens District. But on August 31, 2006, that district was closed. Pailly then became part of the new Gros-de-Vaud district.
The town is located on the left side of the Sauteruz river. It is across from the main road that connects Échallens and Yverdon-les-Bains. Pailly includes the main village and two smaller areas called hamlets: Le Remble and Moulin Pacot.
Pailly's Coat of Arms
The official coat of arms for Pailly has a special design. It shows six vertical stripes, alternating silver and blue. Over these stripes, there is a red diagonal band. On this red band, there are three gold "saltires," which look like X-shapes.
