Rueyres is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Gros-de-Vaud district in Switzerland. It's part of the Vaud canton, which is like a state or region in Switzerland. This charming place is known for its quiet, natural surroundings.

A Look Back in Time
Rueyres has a long history! It was first mentioned in official records way back in the year 1177. Back then, its name was written as Rueria.
Exploring Rueyres' Geography
Rueyres covers an area of about 2.02 square kilometers (or 0.78 square miles). A big part of this land, about 69.3%, is used for farming. This means there are many fields for growing crops and pastures for animals.
About 17.8% of Rueyres is covered by forests. The remaining 10.9% of the land is where buildings and roads are located. This includes homes, businesses, and the paths people use to get around.
How Land is Used
In the built-up areas, about 2.0% is for industrial buildings. Homes and other buildings make up 5.4% of the area. Roads and other ways to travel take up 3.5%. All the forested land is covered with thick, heavy forests. For farming, 48.5% of the land is used for crops, and 19.8% is for pastures where animals graze.
Rueyres used to be part of the Echallens District. But that district was changed on August 31, 2006. After that, Rueyres became part of the new Gros-de-Vaud district.

The blazon (a special description) of Rueyres' coat of arms is: "Gules, around a Bar Or with three Oak-leaves Vert, three Annulets of the second, two and one." This means the background is red (Gules). In the middle, there's a gold (Or) bar with three green (Vert) oak leaves. Around this, there are three gold rings (Annulets), with two above and one below.
