History of Palau Football

Palau hosted the Micronesian Games in 1998 and took part in the football tournament. They finished in third place. In this tournament, teams played with 9 players instead of the usual 11. Matches lasted 80 minutes, and the fields were smaller than regular football pitches. Palau even had a second team made up of people from Bangladesh who lived on the island.

In 2014, the team reached the final of the Micronesian Games. Part of their travel costs for this tournament were paid for by crowd funding, where many people donate small amounts of money online.
