Pattie Howard (born Francine Patience Howard on April 12 in Cleveland, Ohio) is a talented American singer and songwriter. She is known for her amazing voice in gospel and R&B songs. Pattie has also worked as a music producer and vocal arranger.
She has released two albums with big record labels like RCA Records and Light Records. Pattie is also famous for singing background vocals for many well-known artists. These include Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and Madonna. She has helped many albums become gold or platinum records. From 1992 to 2001, Pattie toured the world with Whitney Houston. This was during Houston's very popular The Bodyguard era. Today, Pattie continues to write, produce, and sing her own music. She also works with other artists. In 2016, she released two new songs, "Jesus Is His Name" and "Feel Me, Heal Me."

Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Pattie Howard grew up in a very musical family. She started learning to play the violin when she was just seven years old. In her first year, she wrote her own song. It won first place in a city-wide competition in Cleveland.
Her mother, Sarah Howard Mayes, played the piano. She sang in gospel groups when she was younger. Pattie's father, Rev. Frank Love, was also a gospel singer. Her brother, Michael Howard, toured with a famous group called The Platters. Her sister, Sharlene Grahm-Hairston, was also a well-known gospel singer.
Pattie recorded her first song at age 13. She was the lead singer in a gospel group called "All God's Children." She started singing professionally at 17. She traveled around the world with different artists. At 19, Pattie started her own band called Pattie Love and Fun. This is when she began to write and arrange more of her own music. Her first solo song was called "Second Thoughts."

Working with RCA Records
In 1985, Pattie caught the attention of Lonnie Simmons. He was the president of Total Experience/RCA Records. This label was home to popular groups like The Gap Band. Mr. Simmons offered Pattie a record deal. She then recorded her first album, which was self-titled, Pattie Howard. This album featured some of the first songs she had ever written. The first song released from this album was "Selfish."
Joining Light Records
In 1991, Pattie signed another big record deal. This time it was with Light Records. The president, Ralph Carmichael, was very impressed with her talent. Pattie released her second album, The Vision, on this label. Light Records was also home to other famous gospel artists. These included Andrae Crouch and Edwin Hawkins. The Vision album was co-produced by Andrae Crouch. He is a Grammy Award-winning gospel legend.
World Tours and Performances
After her album The Vision came out, Pattie got a big opportunity. She was hired to tour the world with superstar singer Whitney Houston. This was for The Bodyguard World Tour. Pattie continued to tour with Whitney Houston. She also performed with other artists throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.
