History of Pelican Waters
The land where Pelican Waters now stands has an interesting past. In 1881, an explorer named William Landsborough bought land in this area. He called his property Loch Lamerough. Landsborough lived there until he passed away in 1886.
Years later, in 1946, a large part of Landsborough's property was sold. This happened because of unpaid taxes. A real estate agent named Roy Henzell bought the land.
In 1989, Henzell's company began a big project. They started building a canal estate. This involved changing the wetlands of the Bell Creek estuary to create the waterways you see today.
The suburb officially received its name, Pelican Waters, and its boundaries on December 8, 1995. The name was suggested by the company that developed the land.
A school called Caloundra City School opened in Pelican Waters on January 27, 2005.
