What is Bells Creek Like?
Bells Creek is about 8 kilometers (5 miles) west of Caloundra. A big road called the Bruce Highway runs through Bells Creek. Most of the land here is used for farming.
You can find part of the beautiful Mooloolah River National Park in the northwest. Also, a section of the Beerwah State Forest is in the southwest.
A Look at Its History
Bells Creek gets its name from a local creek. This creek was named after Mary Alice Bell. She was a teacher for the children of a famous explorer, William Landsborough. Before that, the creek was called Kelaher Creek. The local Indigenous people knew it as Tooringoor.
Over the years, parts of Bells Creek have changed. In 2017, a section was used to create a new area called Baringa. This was to make room for new homes. Then, in 2019, more parts of Bells Creek were used to create other new areas. These new places are called Banya, Corbould Park, Gagalba, and Nirimba. These changes also helped with new housing developments.
