Phillip R. Bogle (born September 27, 1979) is a former American football player. He played as an offensive guard. Phil also worked as a coach and general manager for the Philadelphia Soul.
He started his professional career with the San Diego Chargers in 2003. He also played for teams like the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Montreal Alouettes, Dallas Vigilantes, and Florida Tuskers.

Early Life and High School Football
Phil Bogle grew up in Spring Valley, New York. He went to Spring Valley High School. There, he was a star player in football. He was chosen for All-State, All-Section, and All-League teams.
Phil was the fourth person from his high school to play in the NFL. Other players from Spring Valley High who made it to the NFL include Seth Joyner and John Harvey.
College Football Career
Phil Bogle played college football at the University of New Haven. He was there from 1999 to 2002. He started every game as an offensive tackle.
He was a team captain for his last two seasons. In 2002, he was named a First-team All-Independent player for NCAA Division II. He also won the Jim Langer Award. Phil was named the MVP of the 2002 Cactus Bowl. In 2003, he was the New Haven Male Athlete of the Year.
Professional Football Journey
Phil Bogle had a long career playing for different teams. He played in the NFL, NFL Europe, Arena Football League (AFL), and the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Starting with the San Diego Chargers
After college, Phil was not chosen in the 2003 NFL draft. But the San Diego Chargers signed him as an undrafted free agent on April 23, 2003. This means a team signed him even though he wasn't drafted.
In his first year, Phil played in 16 games and started 13 of them. He played both guard and tackle. That season, Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson ran for over 1,600 yards.
In 2004, Phil got extra money from a league program for good performance. He had a knee injury and was released by the Chargers. He later rejoined the team but was released again in October.
Time with the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Phil signed with the Cleveland Browns in February 2005. However, he was released by the team in July.
He then joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in August 2005. He was released, but the Buccaneers signed him again in January 2006. He signed a two-year contract.
In 2006, Phil also played for the Hamburg Sea Devils in NFL Europe. He started all 10 games for them. The Buccaneers released him again in July 2006.
Success with the Philadelphia Soul
On October 27, 2006, Phil signed with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League.
In his first year with the Soul in 2007, he started all 16 regular season games. He also played in two playoff games. He was the first Soul player to be named to the All-Rookie Team and First-team All-Arena in the same year.
In 2008, Phil was again named First-team All-Arena. He was also a finalist for the league's Lineman of the Year award. He played in 16 regular season games and three playoff games. The team won ArenaBowl XXII that year. He even caught seven passes for 60 yards and six touchdowns as a lineman.
Brief Returns to NFL and CFL
After the 2008 AFL season, Phil briefly rejoined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in August 2008. He was released by them again later that month.
He then returned to the Philadelphia Soul in September. In February 2009, the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL signed him. He was released by them in June 2009.
Later Teams
Phil signed with the Dallas Vigilantes in January 2010. He also played for the Florida Tuskers in 2010.
Life After Playing Football
After his playing career, Phil Bogle continued to be involved in football. He became an assistant head coach and general manager for the Philadelphia Soul.
Personal Life
Phil Bogle's father is Glen Bogle. He has one brother, Conroy, and four sisters: Keesha, Shannon, Yolanda, and Julisha. When he is not working, he lives in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
