Phillip Dennis Ivey Jr. (born February 1, 1977) is an American professional poker player. Many people who follow poker think he is one of the best players ever. He has won many big poker tournaments. In 2017, he was chosen to be in the Poker Hall of Fame. This means he is recognized as one of the greatest poker players in history.

Early Life and Poker Start
Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, California. He moved to Roselle, New Jersey, when he was very young. He learned to play poker as a child with his grandfather. Later, in his teenage years, he used a fake ID to play poker in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This is how he got one of his nicknames, "No Home Jerome." He also got the nickname "The Phenom" because he was so good at a young age. People also call him "the Tiger Woods of Poker" because he is so dominant in his sport.

World Series of Poker Success
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is the biggest poker event in the world. Phil Ivey won his first WSOP bracelet in 2000. A bracelet is like a championship trophy in poker. He won a game called Pot Limit Omaha. In 2002, he won three bracelets in one year! This was a huge achievement. He won another Pot Limit Omaha event in 2005.
In 2009, Ivey won two more bracelets. One was in a game called No-Limit 2–7 Draw Lowball. The other was in a mixed game event. He also did very well in the WSOP Main Event, which is the biggest tournament. He finished 7th in 2009, winning over $1.4 million.
Phil Ivey has won 11 WSOP bracelets in total. This makes him one of the top players with the most bracelets ever. He is second only to Phil Hellmuth Jr.. Ivey was also the youngest player to win ten bracelets. All of his 11 wins have been in non-Hold'em games. This shows his skill in many different types of poker.

World Poker Tour and Other Tournaments
Phil Ivey has also done very well on the World Poker Tour (WPT). He won his first WPT title in 2008 at the LA Poker Classic. He won over $1.5 million in that event. He has earned more than $4 million from WPT tournaments.
He also won the Monte Carlo Millions tournament in 2005, taking home $1 million. The next day, he won another $600,000 in a special invitational event. Ivey has also won the Aussie Millions A$250,000 High-roller event three times. He won it in 2012, 2014, and 2015. His 2014 win of AU$4 million was his biggest single prize ever.
As of 2023, Phil Ivey's total winnings from live tournaments are more than $38.3 million. Over $9.2 million of this money came from his WSOP wins. He is currently ranked among the top poker players for total earnings.

High Stakes Cash Games
Besides tournaments, Phil Ivey is known for playing in very high-stakes cash games. These are games where players bet real money on each hand, not just tournament chips. He often plays in "the Big Game" at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. In 2006, he played against a billionaire named Andy Beal. Ivey won over $16 million from Beal in just three days.
Online Poker
Phil Ivey also played a lot of poker online. He was part of the original team that designed Full Tilt Poker, a big online poker site. He won millions of dollars playing poker online between 2007 and 2010.

Phil Ivey lives in Las Vegas. He enjoys watching sports, especially the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets basketball teams. He also likes sports betting, making fun prop bets, and playing golf.
Ivey has also given money to help others. In 2008, he gave $50,000 to a charity in Las Vegas that helps children. He also started his own foundation, the Budding Ivey Foundation. This foundation helps with children's reading programs and feeding people who are homeless. In 2010, he worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to bring children to a casino in Las Vegas for a fun experience.
Ivey has also started businesses related to poker. Ivey Poker was a free poker app where users could play against him and other pros. Ivey League was a website that offered poker training from professional coaches.
