The Philadelphia Phillies Wall of Fame is a special display at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It used to be called the Philadelphia Baseball Wall of Fame. This exhibit features many plaques that honor important players and staff. These people made big contributions to baseball in Philadelphia. They played for either the Philadelphia Phillies or the old Philadelphia Athletics teams.
Each person added to the Wall of Fame gets a metal plaque. This plaque shows their face, their role with the team, and the years they played. It also includes a short summary of their amazing achievements. As of 2024, 73 people have been honored. Forty-eight of them were from the Phillies, and 25 were from the Athletics.
History of the Wall of Fame
The Philadelphia Baseball Wall of Fame started in 1978. It was first located inside Veterans Stadium. At first, the Phillies honored important people from their own team's past. They also honored members of the old Philadelphia Athletics team. The Athletics played in Philadelphia from 1901 until they moved in 1954.
The very first ceremony was on September 8, 1978. Phillies pitcher Robin Roberts and Athletics manager Connie Mack were the first two people inducted. For many years, the Phillies added one person from their team and one from the Athletics each year. The only exception was in 1983. That year, they only inducted the 13 members of their special Centennial Team.
When Veterans Stadium closed in 2003, the plaques were moved. The Phillies plaques went to the Ashburn Alley area of the new Citizens Bank Park. The Athletics plaques moved to a historical society building. In 2004, when Citizens Bank Park opened, a single plaque with all the Athletics inductees was placed near a statue of Connie Mack. Since then, the Phillies only induct members from their own team. They also changed the name to the "Phillies Wall of Fame."
In 2017, Pete Rose was announced as an inductee. However, just ten days before the ceremony, the Phillies announced Rose would not be inducted. The Phillies did not induct a new member that year. Instead, they honored past members.
Before the 2018 season, the Wall of Fame moved again. It is now behind the left-field scoreboard at Citizens Bank Park. This new area also shows other parts of Phillies history. You can see large copies of their World Series trophies from 1980 and 2008. There are also statues of players whose jersey numbers were retired.
In 2022, the Phillies changed their tradition. They inducted two members instead of one. These were outfielder Bake McBride and pitcher Ron Reed. Both were part of the 1980 championship team. In 2023, they inducted three members: owner Ruly Carpenter, general manager John Quinn, and third baseman Scott Rolen. In 2024, David Montgomery was inducted. In 2025, Jimmy Rollins and Ed Wade were inducted.
Who is Inducted?

The Wall of Fame aims to honor the best players in Phillies and Athletics history. To be chosen, players usually need to be retired. They also must have played at least four years with either team. However, some non-players have also been inducted. These are people who made big contributions to the team.
For example, Connie Mack was the Athletics' first inductee. He played baseball for 11 years. But he is best known for being a manager. So, he was honored for his managing career. Some people are inducted for helping in many ways. Paul Owens, inducted in 1988, worked for the Phillies for 48 years. He was a scout, manager, general manager, and team executive.
The Phillies have inducted players from many positions. This includes first basemen, second basemen, third basemen, shortstops, and catchers. They have also honored outfielders and pitchers. Other inductees include managers, general managers, coaches, team executives, and sportscasters.
Twenty-five members of the Wall of Fame are also in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. All the inductees from the first four years (from both teams) are Hall of Famers. Del Ennis was the first person inducted who was not in the Hall of Fame.
The Phillies have retired jersey numbers for 12 players. All of these players have also been inducted into the Wall of Fame. These include Robin Roberts (1978), Richie Ashburn (1979), Chuck Klein (1980), Grover Cleveland Alexander (1981), Jim Bunning (1984), Steve Carlton (1989), Mike Schmidt (1990), Dick Allen (1994), Roy Halladay (2021), Ed Delahanty (2025), Billy Hamilton (2025), and Sam Thompson (2025).

The Centennial Team
In 1983, the Phillies chose their "Centennial Team" instead of inducting a new player. This team honored the best players from the first 100 years of the Phillies' history. The Centennial Team includes players from different times in the team's past.
A special plaque lists all the players chosen for this team. It is located at the left end of the Wall of Fame. Eleven members of the Centennial Team also have their own individual plaques on the Wall. Only Jim Konstanty and Pete Rose from this team do not have their own separate plaques.
