Phoebe Mary Waller-Bridge (born on July 14, 1985) is an English actress, writer, and producer. She is well-known for creating, writing, and starring in the comedy series Fleabag (2016–2019). For this show, she won many awards, including three Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes.
Phoebe also received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for writing and producing the spy thriller series Killing Eve (2018–2022). She has acted in other TV shows and movies like Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023). She also helped write the script for the James Bond film No Time to Die (2021).

Early life and education
Phoebe Mary Waller-Bridge was born in Hammersmith, London, England, on July 14, 1985. Her father, Michael Cyprian Waller-Bridge, started a company for trading online. Her mother, Theresa Mary, worked for a historic company called the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers.
Phoebe grew up in the Ealing area of London. She has an older sister, Isobel Waller-Bridge, who is a composer. They have worked together on projects. Phoebe also has a younger brother named Jasper. Her parents are divorced.
She went to an independent school for girls called St Augustine's Priory. Later, she studied at DLD College London. Phoebe then graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, which is a famous drama school.
Career highlights

Phoebe Waller-Bridge started her acting career in theatre in 2007. She co-founded a theatre company called DryWrite with her friend Vicky Jones. They are both artistic directors of the company. She performed in plays like Roaring Trade and Rope.
In 2012, Phoebe wrote and performed her one-woman show called Fleabag. It first showed at the London Storytelling Festival. A full version of Fleabag then premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013. She continued to perform Fleabag on stage until 2019.
Early screen roles
Phoebe began working in TV and film in 2009. She appeared in short films and single episodes of TV shows. Some of her early TV roles include The Night Watch (2011) and Bad Education (2013).
She also had supporting roles in the TV series The Café (2011–2013) and in the second season of the crime drama Broadchurch (2015). Her first roles in feature films were in Albert Nobbs and The Iron Lady, both released in 2011.
Phoebe has also done voice acting for BBC Radio plays and narrated short films. She has voiced ads for different companies too.
Breakthrough with Crashing and Fleabag
In 2016, Phoebe wrote and starred in her first TV show, a comedy called Crashing. It was about young adults living together in an old hospital. The show aired in the UK and later streamed on Netflix.
After its first release on BBC Three, Fleabag was shown on BBC Two in 2016. It then became available on Amazon Video in the United States. For her acting in Fleabag, Phoebe won the British Academy Television Award for Best Female Comedy Performance.
The second and final season of Fleabag aired in 2019. For this season, Phoebe won several Primetime Emmy Awards. These included awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Comedy Series.
Writing and producing Killing Eve
Phoebe Waller-Bridge wrote and produced the exciting TV series Killing Eve. This show is based on novels by Luke Jennings. She was also the "showrunner" for the first season, which means she was in charge of the show's overall creative direction.
The series, starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, started in April 2018 and was very popular. For her work on Killing Eve, Phoebe was nominated for Emmy Awards for writing and for the series itself as a producer.
Film roles and future projects
Phoebe voiced and played the droid character L3-37 in the Star Wars movie Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). In 2019, she helped write the script for No Time to Die (2021), the 25th James Bond film. She was brought in to add more humor and her unique writing style to the movie.
In 2020, Phoebe voiced Sayan Kötör in the TV show His Dark Materials. She also directed a music video for the singer Phoebe Bridgers. In 2021, she appeared in a music video for Harry Styles.
Phoebe starred as Helena Shaw in the adventure film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which came out in June 2023. She is also working on new projects with Amazon Studios, including adapting a horror/thriller novel into a series and developing a Tomb Raider TV series.
Personal life
Phoebe Waller-Bridge lives in the Shoreditch area of London. She married Irish presenter and filmmaker Conor Woodman in 2014. They separated in 2017. Since 2017, she has been in a relationship with the playwright Martin McDonagh.
Phoebe avoids social media. She said in an interview that she would feel pressure to always be funny online. She also mentioned that she didn't feel confident enough to deal with negative comments that can come with using social media.
