Pierce County, Minnesota facts for kids
Pierce County was a special area in Minnesota that used to be a county. It was created a long time ago, on March 5, 1853. Its land was taken from another county called Dakota County.
This county didn't last very long. By 1855, Pierce County was completely dissolved. Its land was then split up and added to three other counties: Big Sioux, Davis, and Renville Counties.
Where Was Pierce County?
When Pierce County was first formed, it had specific borders.
- To the west and south, it was next to the Minnesota River.
- To the east, it bordered Nicollet County.
- The north side was near the north fork of the Crow River.
- In the northwest, it touched Pembina County.
