Philippa Charlotte Matthews (born Middleton; 6 September 1983) is a British socialite, author, and writer for newspapers and magazines. She is the younger sister of Catherine, Princess of Wales.
Pippa was born in Reading, Berkshire, England. She grew up in Bucklebury. She went to Marlborough College and then studied English literature at the University of Edinburgh. After college, she worked in public relations and event planning. She also helped with her parents' party supply company.
Pippa became well-known during her sister Catherine's relationship with Prince William. Many people noticed her at their wedding in 2011. She has written two books: Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Families and Friends and Heartfelt: Over 100 Quick and Easy Recipes for a Healthy Heart. She also wrote articles for Vanity Fair and The Sunday Telegraph.
In 2017, Pippa married James Matthews. He manages investments and used to be a racing driver. His family owns a large estate in Scotland called Glen Affric. Pippa and James have three children.

Early Life and School
Philippa Charlotte Middleton was born on 6 September 1983. She was born at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Berkshire, England. She is the second of three children. Her father, Michael, used to work for British Airways. Her mother, Carole, was a flight attendant.
Pippa's family moved to Amman, Jordan in 1984 for her father's job. They returned to Berkshire in 1986. In 1987, her mother started a company called Party Pieces. It sold party supplies by mail. In 1995, her family moved to Bucklebury Manor.
Pippa went to St Andrew's School and then Downe House School. She later attended Marlborough College, a private boarding school. She received a scholarship there for sports and other activities. After Marlborough, she studied English literature at the University of Edinburgh. In 2022, she earned another master's degree. This degree was in Physical Education, Sport, and Physical Literacy. She got it from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
Career and Writing
After finishing university, Pippa worked for a short time in public relations. This involved promoting fancy products. She then worked for a company that planned events and parties in London. In 2008, Tatler magazine called her a top "Society Singleton." This meant she was a well-known single person in high society.
Pippa also worked part-time for her parents' company, Party Pieces. She helped edit their online magazine, Party Times. She wrote a book about planning parties called Celebrate. It was published in 2012.

That year, she took part in a 3,000-mile cycling race across the United States. She also did a 6.5 km swimming race in Istanbul. Both events raised money for the BHF. Her bicycle was even sold on eBay to help the charity.
In 2015, she helped design a pink dress and a scarf. The money from selling these items went to the BHF. She also took part in the London to Brighton Bike Ride for the BHF. In September 2015, Pippa competed in a 47-mile swim-run event in Sweden. She did this with her brother and future husband. They raised money for the Michael Matthews Foundation. Personal Life

Pippa was the maid of honour at her sister Catherine's wedding in 2011. Catherine married Prince William. Pippa's dress at the wedding was very popular. It was made by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. Many copies of the dress were quickly made and sold. People even talked about the "Pippa Middleton effect." This meant that products she wore or used became very popular.
In 2011, Pippa's family asked for privacy from photographers. They felt they were being bothered. Later, some old photos of Pippa and her family on holiday were published. The family complained about their privacy being invaded. The newspapers agreed to remove the photos. In 2016, Pippa's phone was hacked. Someone tried to sell her private photos. The hacker was arrested.
In July 2016, Pippa got engaged to James Matthews. They married on 20 May 2017. The wedding was at St Mark's Church in Berkshire. James's father is the Laird of Glen Affric in Scotland. When James inherits the title, Pippa will be known as Lady Glen Affric. For now, she can use the title "Mrs Matthews of Glen Affric the Younger."
Pippa and James have three children. Their son, Arthur Michael William, was born in October 2018. Their daughter, Grace Elizabeth Jane, was born in March 2021. Their youngest daughter, Rose Louise Victoria, was born in June 2022. The family lives on the Barton Court estate in West Berkshire.
