Pokémon 3: The Movie – Spell of the Unown: Entei is a Japanese animated film from 2000. It is the third movie in the popular Pokémon series. The movie was directed by Kunihiko Yuyama.

The film features the voices of many famous actors, including Rica Matsumoto and Ikue Ōtani. Before the main movie, there is a short film called Pikachu & Pichu. This short film introduces the fun-loving Pichu Bros. They help Pikachu find his way back to his trainer, Ash. This movie was also the first Pokémon film to be shown in IMAX theaters. The special effects, like the crystal growth and the Unown, looked amazing in 3D.

Plot

Pikachu & Pichu

Pikachu and his Pokémon friends are left on a tall building in Big City. Their trainers, including Ash, are getting ready for a special surprise. Pikachu meets the Pichu Brothers, who are very playful. He saves the younger Pichu from falling off another building.

Pikachu gets chased by some Murkrow birds. He uses a group of Hoppip to swing across to another building. During this, Meowth, who is cleaning windows, gets sent flying! The Pichu Bros. help Pikachu try to get back to his friends. But they end up on a big adventure all over the city.

They are chased by a Houndour dog Pokémon. They later meet Houndour again near the Pichu Bros.' playground. Houndour almost knocks the playground over. Pikachu, the Pichu Bros., Houndour, and their friends work together to save it. Pikachu then realizes it's almost time to meet Ash. He and the Pichu Bros. use a tire to quickly get back to the building. Meowth gets sent flying again! They arrive just in time. Ash, Misty, and Brock take the Pokémon into a room. A party is waiting for them to celebrate the first time Ash and Pikachu met.

Spell of the Unown

In the quiet town of Greenfield, a scientist named Professor Spencer Hale is studying the mysterious Unown. He and his helper, Skyler, find some old ruins. But Professor Hale suddenly disappears into the Unown's dimension.

His young daughter, Molly, is left all alone. Her mother had also disappeared before. Molly finds a box of tablets with Unown pictures on them. As she puts the letters together, the Unown appear! The Unown use their strange powers to make Molly's wishes come true. Her house turns into a giant crystal palace. This crystal spreads across the town, cutting Molly off from everyone. The Unown also create an illusion of the Entei. This Entei acts like Molly's father.

Many people come to help with the Unown problem. This includes Professor Oak and Delia Ketchum, who is Ash's mother. Meanwhile, Ash and his friends meet a trainer named Lisa. They arrive in Greenfield and decide to help rescue Molly. However, Entei kidnaps Delia. Molly had wished for a mother, and Entei makes Delia think she is Molly's mom.

Ash, Misty, Brock, and their Pokémon head to the crystal mansion to save Delia. They talk to Professor Oak and Skyler using a special device from Lisa. Team Rocket tries to sneak into the mansion. But Entei blasts them deep inside. Molly watches Ash's Bulbasaur and Chikorita on TV. She falls asleep, dreaming she is a Pokémon Trainer.

Seeing Ash on TV helps Delia snap out of her trance. But Entei creates a dream version of Molly as an adult. This dream Molly battles Ash's friends. First, Molly fights Brock, and her dream Pokémon are very strong. Then, Molly has a friendly underwater battle against Misty.

Ash finally finds Molly and Delia. He begs Entei to let his mother go. Entei refuses and easily defeats Ash's Totodile and Cyndaquil. Entei then tries to harm Ash and Pikachu. Luckily, Charizard arrives to save them! Charizard had seen the trouble on TV from Charicific Valley. Entei and Charizard have a big battle. Molly stops Entei and tells him to stop fighting. Ash and his friends convince Molly to leave with them. Entei then reveals that he was created by the Unown to be her father.

The Unown suddenly lose control of their powers. They start to trap everyone inside the mansion. Ash, Pikachu, Charizard, Misty, Brock, Delia, Molly, and Team Rocket escape to the hall where the Unown are. Pikachu and Charizard try to break the force field protecting the Unown. They can't do it alone. Entei joins them, and with Molly's help, they combine their powers to destroy the shield! Entei sacrifices himself, and the Unown return to their own dimension. Everything they changed goes back to normal. Professor Hale also returns to the ruins where he disappeared.

The group goes outside and meets Professor Oak, Skyler, and Lisa. Team Rocket hides in the mansion when they see the police. Charizard and Lisa leave Ash's group. Molly is finally reunited with both her father and her long-lost mother.
