Prince Haji 'Abdul 'Azim of Brunei (Malay: Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Haji 'Abdul 'Azim) was a prince of Brunei. He was born on 29 July 1982 and passed away on 24 October 2020. Prince Azim was the second son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, who is the ruler of Brunei. He was fourth in line to become the next Sultan until his death.

Early Life and Education
Prince Azim was born in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital city of Brunei. His birthday was on 29 July 1982. His parents were Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam.
He went to school at several places. He studied at International School Brunei and Raffles Institution. Later, he continued his education at Oxford Brookes University.
After University
In 2008, Prince Azim started a training course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. This is a famous military school. However, he left the course after only one week.
In 2009, Prince Azim designed some special bags. These were unisex weekend bags for a company called MCM. The money made from selling these bags went to a good cause. It was donated to the Make A Wish Foundation UK. This charity helps make wishes come true for children with serious illnesses. Prince Azim was also a supporter of this charity.
In May 2011, Prince Azim spoke at a charity event in Brunei. The event featured 31 people with autism performing. He said that people with autism should always be treated with respect. He encouraged everyone to treat them "as would to any of your family members." On 27 April 2013, he spoke again at a big meeting. This was the 2nd ASEAN Autism Network (AAN) Congress. He asked for good support for families who have members with autism.
Prince Azim was also a film producer. He worked with a film company in London called Daryl Prince Productions. This company produced a movie called You're Not You. There was some disagreement in Hollywood about certain laws in Brunei. This led to some people avoiding properties owned by Brunei. Prince Azim decided not to attend a party for his movie because of this situation. He was known for being part of the international jetset, which means he traveled a lot and attended many social events. Reports said he had a large amount of money, about US$5 billion, when he passed away.
Prince Azim was a strong supporter of the arts and creative industries. He also helped and gave money to many causes. These causes focused on young people and individuals with disabilities.
His Passing
Prince Azim died on 24 October 2020. He was 38 years old. He passed away at the Jerudong Park Medical Centre in Jerudong. He had been battling an illness for a long time, but the details were not shared publicly at first.
The government of Brunei officially announced his death later on the same day. They also declared a seven-day period of mourning. During this time, all national flags were ordered to be lowered to half-mast.
He was buried next to his grandfather, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III. The burial took place at the Royal Mausoleum in Bandar Seri Begawan. This happened after the afternoon prayers.
Many people attended his funeral and burial ceremony. These included members of the Brunei Royal Family. Important government officials and cabinet ministers were also there. Tunku Ismail Idris, representing the Sultan of Johor, was also present to show his respect.
The day after Prince Azim's death, the Sultan of Johor ordered all state flags in Johor to be lowered to half-mast. This was done to show respect for the late prince.
Some famous people, like Daniel Lismore and Janet Jackson, shared their sadness on social media.
On 27 October 2020, Prince Azim's brother, Prince Mateen, shared a message on Instagram. He explained that Prince Azim's death was caused by multiple organ failure. This was due to a serious condition called systemic vasculitis, which Prince Azim was diagnosed with in early 2020.
