Pyramid Mountain is a famous mountain located in Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. It got its name because it looks a lot like a pyramid! A person named James Hector gave it this name way back in 1859. He noticed its unique shape from the Athabasca River valley, which is on the eastern side of the mountain.

About Pyramid Mountain
Pyramid Mountain is part of the Victoria Cross Ranges. These ranges are found in the beautiful Athabasca River Valley. The mountain is also very close to where the Athabasca River begins. It stands just under 10 kilometers (about 6 miles) north-west of the town of Jasper.

Pyramid Mountain reaches a height of 2,766 meters (about 9,075 feet) above sea level. That's pretty tall! It's one of the many impressive peaks in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Climbing Pyramid Mountain
If you like adventure, Pyramid Mountain offers a relatively easy climb. This type of climb is called a "scramble." A scramble means you'll use your hands sometimes, but you won't need special climbing ropes or gear. The easiest way up is on the eastern side of the mountain.
You can reach these climbing slopes by following a steep fire road. This road starts from a parking lot near Pyramid Lake. The lake is about 11.5 kilometers (7 miles) south-east of the mountain peak.
Weather and Climate
Pyramid Mountain is located in a subarctic climate zone. This means the area has very cold and snowy winters. Summers, on the other hand, are usually mild. During winter, temperatures can drop below -20 °C (which is -4 °F). With the wind chill, it can feel even colder, sometimes below -30 °C (-22 °F)! So, if you visit in winter, make sure to bundle up!
