Early Life and Education
Rachel Roy was born in San Bernardino County, California. She grew up in Seaside, California. She went to Seaside High School. Her brother, Rajendra Roy, is a chief film curator at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Rachel's mother is from the Netherlands, and her father is Bengali Indian. Rachel attended Columbia Union College, which is now called Washington Adventist University. She later moved to New York City. There, she started her career as a wardrobe stylist. She also interned at the fashion company Rocawear.
Fashion Career
At Rocawear, Rachel Roy quickly moved up. She became the creative director for the women's and children's clothing lines. In 2004, she started her own fashion brand, named after herself.
