Rettendon is a small village in Essex, England. It is part of the Borough of Chelmsford. The village is about 13 kilometers (8 miles) southeast of the city of Chelmsford. Rettendon is located near the River Crouch.
Long ago, a powerful church leader called the Bishop of Ely owned the village. The A130 road used to go right through Rettendon. Today, you can find many old and important buildings in the village. These are called listed buildings.

All Saints’ Church
The All Saints’ Church is a very old building. It dates back to the Middle Ages. The church has a tall, impressive tower. It sits on top of a hill, so you can see it from far away. Inside, there is a large marble monument. This monument honors a person named Edmund Humphrey. It was made in 1727.
Hyde Hall Gardens
To the east of Rettendon, you can find Hyde Hall. This is a beautiful garden. In 1993, the garden was given to the Royal Horticultural Society. This group helps people learn about gardening. Hyde Hall is now open for everyone to visit. It's a great place to see many different plants.
