Rush is a famous rock band from Canada. It started in August 1968 in Willowdale, Ontario. The main members are Geddy Lee (who sings and plays bass and keyboards), Alex Lifeson (who plays guitar), and Neil Peart (who plays drums and writes songs).
The band changed members a few times between 1968 and 1974. Neil Peart joined in July 1974, replacing the first drummer, John Rutsey. This is when the band became the famous trio we know today.
Rush released their first album, called Rush, in March 1974. After that, they made 18 more studio albums, 8 live albums, and 6 compilation albums. Rush has earned 24 gold records and 14 platinum records. Three of their platinum records are "multi-platinum," meaning they sold millions of copies!
According to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), Rush is one of the top rock bands for selling many gold or platinum albums in a row. They are behind only The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith. Rush has sold about 25 million albums in the U.S. alone. By 2004, people estimated their total album sales worldwide were over 40 million!

Understanding Certifications
When an album or single sells a lot of copies, it gets a "certification." This shows how popular it is!
- Gold: Means 500,000 copies have been sold.
- Platinum: Means 1 million copies have been sold.
- Multi-Platinum: Means 2 million or more copies have been sold (e.g., 2x Platinum means 2 million, 3x Platinum means 3 million).
These numbers are usually for sales in the U.S. Other countries have similar awards but with different sales numbers.
