Sailing was a cool sport at the Summer Paralympic Games for many years! It was officially part of the Games from 2000 to 2016. Before that, it was shown as a demonstration sport in 1996, which means it was there to show people what it was like before becoming an official event.

The International Association for Disabled Sailing worked with the International Paralympic Committee to organize these exciting sailing events.

Boat Types and Races

In Paralympic sailing, athletes competed in different types of boats, called "classes." These classes were designed for different numbers of sailors.
