Sailing was a cool sport at the Summer Paralympic Games! It was officially part of the Games from 2000 to 2016. Before that, in 1996, it was a "demonstration sport." This means it was shown to people but not yet a full medal event. The International Association for Disabled Sailing helped organize the sailing events with the International Paralympic Committee.

Sailing Boats and Races at the Paralympics

At the Paralympics, sailors competed in different types of boats. These boats are called "classes" or "disciplines." Each class has its own rules and design.
