Saint-Sulpice was a small town, known as a municipality, in the Val-de-Travers area of Neuchâtel, a canton in Switzerland. Switzerland is divided into many cantons, which are like states or provinces. Each canton then has smaller areas called districts, and within those are municipalities.
Saint-Sulpice was a quiet place, nestled in the beautiful Swiss landscape. It was known for its peaceful surroundings and connection to nature.
A Change for Saint-Sulpice
On January 1, 2009, Saint-Sulpice joined with several other nearby municipalities. These included Boveresse, Buttes, Couvet, Fleurier, Les Bayards, Môtiers, Noiraigue, and Travers.
Forming Val-de-Travers
All these towns came together to create a new, larger municipality. This new municipality is called Val-de-Travers. This merger meant that Saint-Sulpice no longer existed as a separate municipality. Instead, it became part of the bigger Val-de-Travers community. This kind of merger happens when smaller towns decide to combine their resources. It helps them work together more efficiently.
