On January 1, 2009, Couvet joined with several other nearby towns. These included Boveresse, Buttes, Fleurier, Les Bayards, Môtiers, Noiraigue, Saint-Sulpice, and Travers. Together, they formed a larger administrative area also named Val-de-Travers. So, Couvet is now part of this bigger community.
