Samsung Galaxy is a popular line of electronic devices made by Samsung Electronics. It includes smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and laptops. These devices mostly use the Android operating system. The first Samsung Galaxy device came out on June 29, 2009.
The Galaxy family has many types of devices. These include the high-end Galaxy S phones and Galaxy Z foldable phones. There are also mid-range phones like the Galaxy A, Galaxy F, and Galaxy M. For computers, there are Galaxy Book laptops and Galaxy Chromebooks. Wearable devices include Galaxy Tab tablets, Galaxy Watch smartwatches, and Galaxy Buds wireless headphones.
Most Samsung Galaxy devices use a special user interface called One UI. Before One UI, it was known as Samsung Experience and TouchWiz. The Samsung Galaxy series helped make Android phones very popular in the early 2010s.

Types of Galaxy Devices
Samsung Galaxy devices come in many different types. Each type is designed for different needs and budgets.
Current Galaxy Series
These are the main types of Galaxy devices available right now:
- Galaxy Z series: These are Samsung's top-tier foldable phones. They can bend and fold, offering a unique experience.
- Galaxy S series: These are Samsung's main flagship phones. They offer the best technology and features. They are the successors to Samsung's older high-end phones.
- Galaxy A series: These phones are more affordable. They range from entry-level to mid-range. They offer good features at a lower price.
- Galaxy M series: These phones are sold mostly online. They are a budget-friendly choice, similar to the Galaxy A series.
- Galaxy F series: These are also online-exclusive phones. They are sold in certain developing countries.
- Galaxy XCover series: These are tough, rugged phones. They are built to handle difficult conditions and are often used for business.
- Samsung Galaxy Tab series: This includes tablets for different uses. The Tab S models are high-end, Tab A models are mid-range, and Tab Active models are rugged.
- Samsung Galaxy Watch series: These are smartwatches. They come in base models, premium Classic models, and affordable FE models.
- Galaxy Fit: These are fitness bands. They help you track your activity and health.
- Galaxy Buds: These are wireless headphones. They let you listen to music and make calls without wires.

Older Galaxy Series
Samsung has also made many other types of Galaxy devices that are no longer sold:

Galaxy Phone Models

Galaxy S Series Phones
The Galaxy S series is Samsung's top line of smartphones. Since 2022, the Ultra models are made for users who need a lot of power. The latest models are the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. The Galaxy S25 Edge was also released in May 2025.
Galaxy Z Series Foldable Phones

Galaxy A Series Phones

Galaxy XCover Series Phones

Samsung Galaxy Tab Series
The Galaxy Tab series includes Android tablets. They first came out in 2010. There are a few types:

Galaxy Laptops and Convertibles
The Galaxy brand also includes laptops and 2-in-1 computers. The Galaxy Book series runs on Microsoft Windows. The Galaxy Chromebook line runs on ChromeOS.
Galaxy Software and Features
Samsung Galaxy smartphones use the Android operating system. They also have Samsung's own software, like One UI. This software makes the phones easy to use and adds special features. Samsung also has its own app store called the Galaxy Store.
Samsung has tools to help Galaxy devices work together. Samsung Flow lets you connect your phone to your computer. You can get notifications, reply to messages, and share files. Multi Control lets you use your Galaxy laptop's keyboard and mouse to control your Galaxy phone. You can even drag and drop files between them.
"Over the Horizon" Sound
"Over the Horizon" is the special sound that Samsung Galaxy phones use. It was first heard in 2011 on the Galaxy S II. This six-note tune is used as the default ringtone and for turning the phone on or off. Many different versions of the song have been created over the years by various artists.
