Secret Squirrel is a fun cartoon character created by Hanna-Barbera. He first appeared in 1965 as part of The Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show. Later, in 1966, he got his very own show called The Secret Squirrel Show.
This cartoon was a parody (a funny imitation) of popular spy movies, especially the James Bond films. Secret Squirrel was even known as "Agent 000"! In 1993, new Secret Squirrel cartoons were made. They were called Super Secret Secret Squirrel and had new voice actors.
Contents
Meet Secret Squirrel and His Friends
Secret Squirrel is a clever squirrel who works as a secret agent. He gets his orders from his boss, Double-Q, who leads the International Sneaky Service. Secret Squirrel's special agent number is 000.
Secret Squirrel is always helped by his loyal sidekick, Morocco Mole. Morocco Mole wears a fez hat and glasses.
Spy Gadgets and Clever Tricks
Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole fight bad guys and evil agents. They use smart plans and lots of cool spy gadgets. Secret has a special trench coat that is bulletproof and hides many weapons. He also has a purple fedora hat with eye holes. This hat is full of secret devices!
Secret Squirrel's Enemies
Secret Squirrel often battles his main enemy, Yellow Pinkie. Yellow Pinkie is a funny take on famous bad guys from spy stories. Secret also faces other villains like the Masked Granny, Captain Kidd, and Robin Hood and his Merry Mugs. In some later episodes, a new enemy called Hi-Spy appeared. Hi-Spy was a master of scientific crimes.
The 1993 Super Secret Secret Squirrel Show
The cartoons from 1993 brought some changes to the characters and how they looked. Secret Squirrel was voiced by Jess Harnell, and Morocco Mole was voiced by Jim Cummings. In these new cartoons, almost all the characters are animals.
New Characters and Looks
Double-Q, Secret's boss, is now called "the Chief." He is a Cape buffalo and smokes a pipe that smells like cherries. Yellow Pinkie was replaced by a sea lion named Goldflipper. Goldflipper was Secret's main enemy, but he only showed up in one episode of the new series.
The new cartoons also introduced Penny, a female squirrel who helps the Chief. She might even be a love interest for Secret Squirrel!
Changes to Secret and Morocco
Secret Squirrel's look stayed mostly the same, but it was updated to look more modern. His hat also looked a bit different. In the original show, Secret had a slight lisp, but he didn't have it in the new series.
Morocco Mole's colors were changed, and he started wearing sunglasses. His voice also changed; it was higher-pitched and less like the original. Morocco even got an evil twin brother named Scirocco Mole!
Switched Personalities
Interestingly, Secret and Morocco's personalities seemed to switch in the 1993 cartoons. In the old show, Morocco was very smart and often drove the car. In the new show, he's more independent but also a bit clumsy. He often gets hurt and says, "Okay, Secret!"
Secret Squirrel was a bit clumsy in the original series. But in the new version, he's much better at his job! He's a hard worker but also relaxed. He still has a gadget for everything and is good at fighting. Most of his injuries now come from his job or Morocco's mistakes. The Chief also speaks with a British accent and often says, "Good show, Secret."
Many fans really liked the new cartoons, saying they were funnier than the older ones.

How Secret Squirrel Influenced Culture
The phrase "Secret Squirrel stuff" is sometimes used by people who work in U.S. intelligence. It's a lighthearted way to describe information that is highly secret. It can also be used to mean someone is pretending to be a spy or special soldier.
The name "Secret Squirrel" might have been used for special operations forces even before the TV show. Some stories say the word "squirrel" was used during World War II to find German spies.
"Secret Squirrel" is also police slang for an agent of the United States Secret Service.
The 1990s band Marcy Playground even recorded a song called "Secret Squirrel" on their album Shapeshifter.
