2 Stupid Dogs is an American animated TV show created by Donovan Cook. It was made by Hanna-Barbera Cartoons. The show first aired on September 5, 1993, and ended on May 15, 1995. You could watch it on TBS as part of their Sunday Morning in Front of the TV block. The main characters are two unnamed dogs, known as "The Big Dog" and "The Little Dog." They are voiced by Brad Garrett and Mark Schiff.

This cartoon was sometimes compared to Ren and Stimpy, another popular show from that time. Both shows had characters who weren't very smart. They also used jazz music and had a silly, sometimes gross, style of humor.

Between the main 2 Stupid Dogs cartoons, there was a short segment called Super Secret Secret Squirrel. This was a new version of an older cartoon called Secret Squirrel. This was like how old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the 1960s used to be.

What the Show Is About

The show follows the everyday funny adventures of two dogs. As the title suggests, neither of them is very smart! The way the show looks is quite simple and flat. It's similar to how Hanna-Barbera cartoons looked in the 1950s and 1960s. But it has the humor and style of the early 1990s. The Big Dog doesn't talk as much as the Little Dog. When he does speak, he usually talks about food.

Episodes

The show had 2 seasons with a total of 26 episodes. Each episode usually had two 2 Stupid Dogs segments and one Super Secret Secret Squirrel segment in between.

Meet the Characters

  • The Little Dog (voiced by Mark Schiff) is a small, light brown Dachshund. He is very energetic and hyperactive. The Little Dog is super scared of cats. When a cat appears, it's always the Big Dog who scares it away.
  • The Big Dog (voiced by Brad Garrett) is a large grey Old English Sheepdog. He has a purple nose. He is much stronger and calmer than the Little Dog. He doesn't talk as much. Sometimes, he even seems smarter than the Little Dog!
  • The Cat is a small, harmless cat. The Little Dog is terrified of it, even though it doesn't do anything. The Big Dog's bark makes the Cat freeze in fear. But the Cat isn't scared of the Big Dog unless he barks.
  • Mr. Hollywood (voiced by Brian Cummings) is a big, loud, and proud man. He loves to point out other people's mistakes. In each episode, he has a different job. He might be a teacher, a farmer, or even a pet shop owner. When he sees a mistake, he first says, "Well now, isn't that cute..." Then he yells, "...BUT IT'S WRONG!!!" This is usually followed by a loud foghorn sound.
  • Kenny Fowler (voiced by Jarrett Lennon) is a small, skinny kid. He wears nerdy glasses. He often gets picked on by Buzz. Kenny often asks the dogs for help. He also falls down a lot.
  • Buzz (voiced by Whit Hertford) is a school bully. He picks on Kenny. Whenever Kenny falls, Buzz says, "What a Fowler!"
  • Cubby (voiced by Rob Paulsen) is a man with big glasses, blonde hair, and blue lips. He is also a bit chubby and spotty. Like Mr. Hollywood, Cubby has a different job in each episode he appears in.
  • Buffy Ziegenhagen (voiced by Tawni Tamietti) is a girl in Kenny's class. Kenny has a crush on her, and she secretly likes him too.
  • Red (voiced by Candi Milo) is a small, quiet girl. The dogs often meet her. When she speaks, she usually talks very softly. But she will shout one or two words in her sentence very loudly!
