Seengen is a lovely town, also called a municipality, located in the Lenzburg district. You can find it in the Aargau region, which is one of the many cantons (like states) in Switzerland.

Exploring Seengen's Location and Landscape
Seengen is nestled in the beautiful Seetal valley. It sits just north of the sparkling Lake Hallwil.
The municipality covers an area of about 9.69 square kilometers. A large part of this land, about 51.3%, is used for farming. Forests cover another 32.3% of the area. The rest of the land, about 13.7%, has buildings and roads. A very small part, 0.1%, is made up of rivers and lakes.
Seengen's Official Coat of Arms
The official symbol of Seengen is its coat of arms. It shows a black eagle with a red beak, tongue, and claws, all on a silver background. This design is called Argent an Eagle displayed Sable beaked, langued and membered Gules in heraldry terms.

Seengen is home to about 3,362 people as of 2009. A small part of the population, about 8.4%, are people from other countries. Over ten years, from 1997 to 2007, the number of people living here grew by 31.4%.
Most people in Seengen speak German, which is about 93.9% of the population. French is the second most common language, spoken by 1.0% of residents. Albanian is the third most common, also at 1.0%.

Seengen is special because it has very old settlements from prehistoric times. These are called pile-dwelling settlements. They are part of the Prehistoric Pile dwellings around the Alps which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means they are recognized as very important historical places by UNESCO.
There are four sites in Seengen that are considered Swiss heritage sites of national significance. These include two famous castles: Brestenberg Castle and Hallwyl Castle. Also on the list are the castle mill and an ancient Bronze Age village called Risi, located by Lake Hallwil.
